In this year a major outbreak of botulism in the gull population saw 140 gulls admitted in one weekend. All of these birds needed hourly attention 24 hours a day including rehydration, tube feeding and administering antibiotics. 78 of these gulls were released. In the area, on this weekend alone, 352 birds died from this infection.

Two orphaned badgers were received this year at 10 days and 3 months old. Both required constant feeding throughout the day and after 4 months were released to a safe man-made sett. Other inhabitants included two adult swans and seven eggs. The swans recovered and were released. The eggs were incubated, kept damp and turned twice a day. To everyone's surprise, 6 of the eggs hatched. The cygnets were given a foster mum duck who helped care for them. All were released safely.
