We received a telephone call from a member of the public regarding what they thought was a lobster. The lobster had been found in the back dark passage of their house.
On arrival at Weirfield it was found to be a crayfish but a non-native crayfish to British waters. Our British Cray fish are about 40mm long and this one was much bigger.

A Whimbrel for which was a first at Weirfield.

It was found local to Lincoln and brought in by someone’s cat. Unfortunately the cat had caused some wing damage which had become infected, despite anti-biotics and care the Whimbrel died.

This lovely Deer came in Weirfield in early July, having only been born the night before. Well meaning people had picked her up and taken her home believing she was alone. Still only a fawn it was dependant on a bottle. It was a very slow process to teach the fawn that the bottle is now its source of food, for at least ten weeks. One week on  and she is taking more milk and looking more alert.
